Behind the veil of Xanadu ... the harsh glare of Reality.

I hope you have enjoyed your journey through the Realm of Xanadu so far. This particular page was created for those who have interest in additional "behind the scenes" information on Xanadu (as if there isn't too much information already), and those who wish to know something about the author. So without a further ado, lets go behind the veil of Xanadu...

Origin of Xanadu

The concept of Xanadu originated from a poem titled, "Kubla Khan" written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge in the late 1700's.  My interest in his poetry began many years ago when I discovered "Kubla Khan" was also the basis for the song "Xanadu" written by a band named RUSH.  I have always enjoyed the musical talent of this band and found the visual quality of Coleridge’s poem equally appealing.  From there I discovered the beauty of his other remarkable works, most notably "Rime of the Ancient Mariner."  To this day, I still enjoy the visceral imagery provided in "Kubla Khan" most of all.

Secrets of Xanadu

As the underlying story of Xanadu unfolds, it is clear that there are many unanswered questions.  What is the Spectral Abyss?  Where are the First Archons originally from? What exactly is the Xenophage? What does the destruction of Agaparthea have to do with Xanadu? (if you are unfamiliar with these terms I suggest checking out the Lexicon of Xanadu.)

To assist those who are really interested in the answers to these (and many more) questions I have set up the following additional pages.  The links to these pages are well concealed and can be found only by uncovering the secret clues that lie about.  Don't hesitate to look everywhere and be patient, it may take some time to find them:

Xanadu Timeline - A comprehensive listing of all major events as they relate to Xanadu, including information not described anywhere else.
Secret of the Seven Truths - This supplement to the Codex of Presage answers the questions surrounding the Xenophage, the Spectral Abyss, and the Manifest Legacy of Xanadu.
Secret Image Archive - An addendum to the Gallery of the Ebola Gardens displaying many works related to the hidden sites of Xanadu.
History of the Future - This section tells the story of the future of Xanadu and brings the storyline to its dramatic conclusion.  NOTE: The first in a series of five chapters is now online for those clever enough to find it.  Although it will be difficult to find on your own...

Final Notes

Now in its third major revision, the digital realm of Xanadu is still evolving. As I develop new or better ideas and images, modifications will continue to be made.  I welcome any comments, suggestions or criticisms regarding any aspect of Xanadu.
